Space Explorers

People are as intrigued as ever with space exploration. Still, it is complicated, expensive, and dangerous business. Here, we highlight two very different uses of CGI and virtual reality/mixed reality as it pertains to space. In the first, “Space Games,” we detail how a newly formed game company is using VR to give players a realistic taste of what it is like to train for a mission to space. In the second, “Space Training,” we show how NASA is using mixed reality and gaming technology to help astronauts learn to work in space. These are two very different applications that use similar technology to give hobbyists and professionals a realistic space experience.
