AMD and Alienware Team Up on 'Assassin's Creed' VR Movie Experience

SUNNYVALE, CA – To celebrate the theatrical release of "Assassin's Creed , " in theaters December 21, AMD and Alienware have teamed up with 20th Century Fox and New Regency to launch a virtual reality experience that will take the viewer into the world of the Spanish inquisition through the lens of an Assassin.

“The Assassin's Creed Movie VR Experience” premiered this week at The Game Awards 2016 in the “Assassin's Creed" Red Room. 

“’The Assassin's Creed Movie VR Experience’ is a thrilling piece of virtual reality that will excite aficionados of the game, fans of the movie and newcomers alike. We are delighted to team up with Fox and are excited to demonstrate how world-class VR can be produced and experienced on AMD technology," said Roy Taylor, AMD Corporate Vice President, Content, Alliances, and VR.

Developed and rendered using innovative AMD Radeon technology, which is designed to fuel the creation of real-time photorealistic VR content, “The Assassin's Creed Movie VR Experience” was shot on-location during the movie's filming both in Malta and at Practical Magic's studio in Burbank.

From December 2 through January 1, 2017, “The Assassin's Creed Movie VR Experience” will roll out to cinema-goers at AMC Theaters in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and New York City. The theaters will feature several Oculus Rift demo kiosks where viewers can immerse themselves in the content before or after their movie. Each of the kiosks will be powered by the new Alienware Aurora PC featuring the new Radeon RX 480 graphics cards.

“The Assassin's Creed Movie VR Experience” also will be available for free through the Oculus Video app on both Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR and as a 360-degree video on Facebook from December 1.
